Since late 2018, Ide André (1990) has been experimenting with painting in a physical, rhythmic way, using ropes as a brush. Self-imposed rules create a direct, energetic working method that is also visible in his paintings. Each work is a residue of an action, like a visual score or a seismographic record of movement. The result is raw and expressive, but at the same time open and drawing-like.

In BLOW by BLOW, André brings together works from different periods over the past eight years for the first time, focusing on his early stages and most recent work. A striking development within his oeuvre is the use of bleach instead of paint. By drenching ropes in bleach and pulling them across the canvas, he extracts rather than adds colour, resulting in a new kind of marks and contrasts.

Alongside his paintings - the core of his practice - André presents an installation created especially for MOYA. This installation refers to the world of the studio, an autonomous place where its own rules apply, but also to the world beyond. For André, his work is not separate from its surroundings; he sees parallels between his practice and natural processes, music or even live concerts. His work is not a direct reflection of that outside world, but an echo - a rhythmic response to the energies that surround him.
