Bas Geerts (1971) creates work characterised by an openness of form and dexterity, which manifests itself on several levels at once. His paintings play with colour and composition: bright hues flow into each other, while the reflection on the sheet metal changes with the viewer's movement.

In his work, Geerts explores the tensions between a subjective experience and objective reality. To generate his compositions, he uses self-written computer programmes. This makes the artworks the result of a process that, although initiated by Geerts, has a certain autonomy.

In Face Off, Geerts highlights the imbalance of human relationships through double portraits that unite the silhouettes of two people. The work deals with the inhumanity of violence and the disproportionality of power, giving voice to the victims and exposing the perpetrators as such.
